The Artist
My name is Michaela, and I created Nymferro, a name I formed myself to balancing something ethereal with something strong and enduring.
Born in Austria and now living by the English coast, I have always found myself somewhere between the mountains, forests and the sea. If you asked me to choose between them, I could never give a straightforward answer. Home to me has never been one single place, it is a feeling. One of the homes I’ve found for myself is silversmithing.
Since a young age I have always been drawn to drawing, crafting and creating something meaningful from scratch, which is perhaps why silversmithing felt so natural to me. What I love most is being able to follow the entire process through, from an idea slowly taking shape to a finished piece held in my hands.
Working with my hands encourages me to slow down. My mind wanders whilst my hands create, and I become fully immersed in the craft and the process itself. Many of my pieces begin this way — intuitively formed, inspired by nature, sentiment, texture or simply a feeling.
One of the greatest joys for me is seeing my trinkets worn, loved and treasured by others. There is something incredibly special about creating pieces that become part of somebody’s everyday life.
Wearable talismans to become part of your story.
Each Nymferro piece is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted by myself in my Brighton-based studio. I am creating slowly and intentionally, allowing each piece to develop organically through the making process. No two pieces are ever exactly alike — small variations is what gives each trinket its own character and individuality.
I aim to work as consciously as possible, using recycled sterling silver wherever I can and choosing low-impact packaging. Nymferro is rooted in an appreciation for craftsmanship, sentiment and for the love of creating.
